Het volk der introverten is een beeldend kunstwerk van hoofdjes ter grootte van een handpalm, geboetseerd uit klei. Het kunstwerk wordt samen met zowel publiek als specifieke sociale doelgroepen tot stand gebracht onder begeleiding van beeldend kunstenaar en muziektheatermaker Mirthe Dokter

'The people of introverts' is a visual artwork of heads the size of a hand, molded from clay. The work is created by the Arnhem visual artist and musictheatre-maker Mirthe Dokter together with the public and several social groups.

The people of introverts was hosted by Museum Arnhem in 2020, where the artwork began. After this it was exhibited in Concordia Enschede, Hoogte 80 Festival and at several organizations, schools and NGO's. The people of introverts are looking for a new 'house' to be and grow, in The Netherlands or in Brussels/Belgium

You are invited to clay (individual) or to invite the artwork in you gallery/museum/cultural house/social workspace and clay and built together! Neem contact met me op, en samen organiseren we een volksverhuizing.
Mirthe continues claying till the group is so big that they need a big space to melt together. We will place them somewhere outside, where they will disappear in the ground, where clay comes from. At the moment we have hundreds of heads, but we continue till we have thousands. Help me and invite the clay folk to your exhibition place.
Het verhaal
In ieder mens huist introversie, maar in deze moderne tijd lijkt dat meer een zwaktebod dan een kracht. Hoe harder je roept, hoe meer ruimte je krijgt in de wereld waarin we leven. De mensen die daardoor in de verdrukking raken, verstoppen zich stilletjes in de kieren en gaten van de maatschappij. Dokter ziet haar eigen introverte kant juist als haar kracht. Ze is van mening dat in het introverte de durf huist om afstand te kunnen nemen van gewoontes, om een eigen blik te ontwikkelen en te veranderen. Met het volk der introverten geeft zij een podium aan het introverte in de mens en de samenleving.

The story
There is introversion in every person, but in modern times this is considered to be more of a weakness than a strength. The harder you shout, the more space you get in the world in which we live. Introverted people quietly hide in the cracks and holes of our society. Dokter sees her own introvert side as her strength. She believes that in introversion lies the courage to dissent from commonly accepted routines and to change. With het volk der introverten she gives a stage to introversion in human being and the society.
